From the moment it was revealed, the 30th Anniversary Countdown Kit was widely regarded as one of the best MTG Secret Lair drops of all time. Boasting $230 of value for just $150, MTG Players couldn’t get enough of the 30th Anniversary Countdown Kit. This is in stark contrast to 30th Anniversary Edition, which was announced in the leadup to Magic 30. While initially intriguing, the reveal of 30th Anniversary Edition’s $999 price tag had players up in arms in an instant. Since that damning reveal, 30th Anniversary Edition has, somewhat deservingly, been subject to constant ridicule from disgruntled fans. This anger, however, may be somewhat misplaced. I was really disappointed with Secret Lair Magic 30. The cards were very underwhelming and lacked any sort of excitement that I usually feel when opening a new Magic set. The artwork was also not up to par with what I expected. Overall, it just fell flat and didn't live up to the hype. I wouldn't recommend spending money on this product.

While Secret Lair Magic 30 had some interesting cards, the overall value for the price was just not there. I felt like I could have gotten better cards for the same amount of money by purchasing booster packs or other sets. Additionally, the packaging and presentation were quite lackluster. It didn't feel like a special collector's edition at all. I was left feeling somewhat disappointed and wouldn't purchase it again.
