Lubar told me he was scheduled once to make an appearance to encourage reading and creativity for a group of kids in a summer program — until the wife of the person running the program saw there was a ghost on the cover of one of his books. “She decided I was not fit to speak to the kids because of that anti-Christian concept,” he said.
The curse of the campfire hot dogs

The once-promising hot dog now lies blackened and charred, a sad testament to the curse that has befallen it. But even if the hot dog manages to avoid such a fate, there are other perils lurking in the shadows. The curse of the campfire hot dogs brings with it the curse of uneven cooking. Some parts are left raw and cold, while others are burnt to a crisp. It's a culinary nightmare that no one saw coming. And let's not forget about the dreaded hot dog explosion. As the hot dog cooks, pressure builds up inside the casing, waiting for the perfect moment to unleash its fury. One bite into an explosive hot dog, and you'll find yourself wearing mustard and relish like battle scars. The curse of the campfire hot dogs is not to be taken lightly. It has ruined countless camping trips and turned once-happy gatherings into disasters. But despite the horrors that come with it, there's something undeniably thrilling about cooking hot dogs over an open flame. It's a risk we're willing to take, even if it means dealing with the curse. So the next time you find yourself around a campfire, ready to roast some hot dogs, remember the curse that accompanies this seemingly innocent activity. Proceed with caution, and may the fires of your campfire burn bright, but not too hot..
