Witchcraft vs. Black Magic: The Distinctions in Runescape's Armor

By admin

The Runescape witchcraft armor is a set of armor that players can obtain in the popular MMORPG game, Runescape. The armor is highly sought after by players due to its unique abilities and stylish appearance. **The main idea** behind the witchcraft armor is its association with magic and spellcasting, making it a valuable asset for players who focus on magical abilities in the game. Witchcraft armor is typically acquired through various in-game activities, such as completing quests or defeating powerful enemies. Once obtained, players can equip the armor to gain its bonuses and enhance their magical abilities. **The main idea** here is that the witchcraft armor provides players with a significant advantage in combat situations where magic is involved.

A skill based on studying old evil artefacts and adapting to their power to use them in various ways.
This skill would work as an alternative combat level modifier to attack/strength and range/magic, however, its effect on overall combat level would be 5 times lesser, meaning that 99 Occultism level would be equal to 25 total combat level.

Low level Occultism activities:
1) Collect and study broken artefacts scattered through wilderness (and areas with high level monsters);
2) Break curses on cursed trees, cursed rocks, cursed animals;
3) Find haunted location and defeat evil spirits.

Medium level Occult activities:
1) Find haunted NPC and exorcise them;
2) Find cursed prayer altars and exorcise them;
3) Do specific tasks assigned by an Occult Master.

High level Occult activities:
1) Craft Occult weapons and armor;
2) Summon and defeat ancient demons/spirits;
3) Do high-end tasks assigned by an Occult Master.

Occult weapons (correspond to metallic counter parts):
1) Maces (doesn't provide prayer bonus);
2) Swords;
3) Greatclubs (two-handed counterpart to 2H Swords);
4) Spears;
5) Crossbows;
6) Magic daggers.
Occult weapons have lower Strength bonus, but their attacks drain prayer points from your target (draining 0.1 point per 1 damage inflicted).

Occult armor (have stats between Mithril armor and Green D'hide armor);
1) Fighter set (with melee attack bonuses);
2) Ranger set;
3) Caster set (with lower defensive bonuses, but with positive magic attack bonus).
Occult armor increases the drain rate of your prayer points, but also protect you from any external source of prayer point damage.

Cooperating with other skills, you can also:
1) Make Occult food which grants temporal damage bonus against demons and undeads;
2) Catch (and then fight) undead fish;
3) Mine out Occult artefacts;
4) Hunt possessed animals;
5) Slay possessed monsters;
6) Construct Occult shrines;
7) Runecraft magic daggers (can't autocast, but have high magic attack bonus).

Occult weapons typically require +10 Occult level. For example: Rune Occult Dagger would require 40 Attack and 50 Occult levels. However, Dragon Occult weapons require +20 Occult level over Attack level requirement.

Occult armor would typically require +20 Occult level. For example: Fighter Set would require 20 Defense and 40 Occult levels.
In addition, there could be upgraded Occult armor adding addition requirements:
1) Occult Knight Set - requiring 20 Defense, 20 Attack, 20 Strength and 40 Occult levels;
2) Occult Sharpshooter Set - requiring 20 Defense, 30 Ranged and 40 Occult levels;
3) Occult Sorcerer Set - requiring 20 Defense, 30 Magic and 40 Occult levels.
These improved sets could offer a slightly bigger defensive bonuses against same class of attacks (fighter against melee, ranger against ranged, caster against magic).

Moreover, there could be some epic high-level Occult shields (requiring 40 Defense and 80 Occultism levels):
1) Doomshield - provide same defense bonuses as Adamant Kiteshield, but have no negative defense or attack bonuses, and has a set effect with any Occult armor set reducing all damage you take from demons and undeads by 3;
2) Magnetite Shield - provides same defensive bonuses as Snakeskin Shield, but have no negative defense or attack bonuses, and has a set effect with any Occult armor set reducing all damage you take from demons and undeads by 3;
3) Unmagna Shield - provides same defensive bonuses as Anti-dragon Shield, provides a small magic attack bonus, and has a set effect with any Occult armor set reducing all damage you take from demons and undeads by 3
4) Silver-mirror Shield - have stats average to three other shields, but has no set effect.

At 99 Occultism level you would learn how to craft Evil Be-gone Icons.

These Icons would allow you to summon and bind spirits of certain Bosses after you have slain those bosses.
With a bound boss spirit you would be able to travel into a special ritual site and release the spirit spawning a ghostly version of the boss.

Ghostly bosses would be a bit stronger, have a little better loot table, but would require to have at least 99 Occultism level to damage.

Ritual site could be in Wilderness for added risk/reward factor.

Occultism ghostly bosses:

Ghostly Chaos Fanatic - has a chance to drop Hopender (equivalent to Dragon Occult Dagger, but with different model, no special attack, but with ability to autocast spells).

Grotesque Occult Guardians - has a chance to drop Gargoyle Headmace (equivalent to Dragon Occult Mace, but with different model and different special attack).

Zembie King Black Dragon - has a chance to drop Black Dragon Sword (equivalent to Dragon Occult Sword, but with different model and different special attack).

Demon-possessed Obor - has a chance to drop Demon-tree Club (equivalent to Dragon Occult Greatclub, but with different model and different special attack) and a chance to drop Possessed Giant Club (equivalent to Rune Occult Greatclub, but with different model).

Spectral General Graardor - has a chance to drop Spinespear (equivalent to Dragon Occult Spear, but with different model and different special attack).

The Occult Nightmare - has a chance to drop Madness Grasper (equivalent to Dragon Occult Crossbow, but with different model and different special attack).

All Occult weapon (except spears and crossbows) up to and including rune equivalents would be available to F2P, but craftable only by P2P.

Up to mithril equivalent weapons would be craftable by F2P players, but only after a new quest.

Occult crossbows, spears and dragon equivalents would be available only to P2P players.

All Occult armors and shields would be only for P2P players.

Occult masters would be available only to P2P players.

Only boss available to F2P to bind and summon as Occult boss would be Obor.

Occult cooking, fishing, woodcutting, hunting, and slaying would be only for P2P players.

Quests:
1) F2P quest introducing you to Occultism skill and allowing you to craft Occultism items up to mithril equivalent;
2) P2P quest for few more levels;
3) P2P quest allowing you to equip dragon equivalent weapons;
4) F2P and P2P quests teaching you how to bind souls of Bosses and fight them against for extra loot;
5) P2P quest allowing you to deploy Occult Totems. These totems will work a bit like Multi-cannon as they independently attack nearby enemies dealing minor magic damage to them and taunt them to attack you.

Occult Totems can be crafted at an Occult Crafting Station (build with high construction level) at player's home. To craft them you need materials (some bones, some wood, feathers and a string). Totems requiring better material would deal more damage:
1) Simple Totem - max hit 2;
2) Wolf Totem - max hit 3;
3) Giant's Totem - max hit 4;
4) Demonash Totem - max hit 5;
5) Draconic Idol - max hit 6.

Each totem will last for 1 minute after being placed on the ground and attack the closest enemy within 8 squares of range.
Max hit of the totem scales with your Occultism level, so at lover levels they will hit for less than indicated.
Each player can place only 1 totem on the ground at a time.
Damage done by Occult Totem grants Occultism experience.

PVP: wearing an unique Occult Shield will negate all damage you take from hostile Occult Totems.

Side Occult activities

Occult mini-game in which you have to run through haunted museum, identify haunted relics, find corresponding tool to exorcise the evil spirit the the relic and earn points.
Needs to have at least 5 players and can have up to 20 players competing who earn the most points during 10 minutes. Player with most points wins.
Winner (and every player earning more than X points) gain Occult tickets which could be exchanged for:
1) Cosmetic capes (same stats as red/black cape);
2) Occult experience lamps;
3) Occult construction materials (P2P only);
4) Occult armor (P2P only);
5) Occult Emblems.

Occult Emblems would be unique items used to charge Rune Occult weapons granting them uses of special attacks. Occult Rune Weapons would be only non-P2P weapons with special attacks.
Each use of Occult Rune Weapon special attack will drain charges, and eventually you would need to recharge the weapon.

Occult Agility Arena would be around 6-8 level of Wilderness where you could train Agility by running away from Ghosts and jumping over zombie pits.

Nearby Occult Agility Arena could by Occult Farm Patches allowing you to grew some new haunted herbs.

At high Occultism level you could get an Occult Master to assign you a task to cleanse a possessed building in one of the major cities. However, instead of typical cleansing, you will meet a ghost who could be exorcised only via collection of certain items (gold bar, rune dagger, etc). In total you could encounter 1 our of 5 specific ghosts:
1) The Old King of Vanity (any skill of your choice);
2) The Knight of Rage (attack);
3) Eternally Hungry Troll (strength);
4) Shaded Bowman (ranged);
5) Arcane Ghostling (magic).
Each time you exorcise one of them by fulfilling their request you will gain reputation for that ghost.
Reaching 100% of reputation with any particular ghost will allow you to invite them into your player house. While in your house, you can talk to them each day to gain some experience.

Alongside all other interconnected activities, there could be special mini-quest focused in doing activities within an Occult dungeon and finding special key fragments.
These fragments could be combined to unlock a special boss room for a random high-end Occult boss.
These bosses could drop the best Occult gear (helmets) who would also work as part of any Occult armor set:
1)

Chicken-witch Doctor's Mask

- a ranger helmet requiring 80 Ranged, 80 Occultism and 40 Defense. It would provide high defense against magic and high ranged accuracy, but automatically drains prayer points from you while you are in combat;
2)

Third Eye Mask

- a ranger helmet requiring 80 Ranged, 80 Occultism and 40 Defense. It would provide moderate defenses and high ranged accuracy, but negative magic accuracy. It also drains prayer points from you while you are in combat;
3)

Tentacle Mask

- a fighter helmet requiring 80 Attack, 80 Occultism and 40 Defense. It provides high melee defense and moderate melee accuracy, but negative ranged and magic accuracies. It also drains prayer points from you while you are in combat;
4)

Man-eater's Mask

- a fighter helmet requiring 80 Strength, 80 Occultism and 40 Defense. It provides moderate melee defense and moderate melee accuracy, but drains prayer points from you while you are in combat;
5)

Frost-moth Mask

- a caster helmet requiring 80 Magic, 80 Occultism and 40 Defense. It provides low melee defense, moderate magic defense and accuracy, but drains prayer points from you while you are in combat;
6)

Laughing Lizard Mask

- a caster helmet requiring 80 Magic, 80 Occultism and 40 Defense. It provides high magic defense and accuracy, but negative ranged and melee accuracies. It also drains prayer points from you while you are in combat.

While it seems as though you have given this new skill some thought,

Why does it leach ..with no apparent advantages from or/to PRAYER?

I use prayer, pots, debuffs(standard spellbook) cannon & equipment that boost every aspect of my Slayer slaughter fest as I can.

I need zero extra drain on patience/herblore & wearing prosy forever.

Here are some:
1) Kill the normal version of a boss. Capture their soul. Spawn captured boss as an undead. Occult armor set (with shield) increases defense against undeads. Spawn Occult totem as bonus support in taking down the boss;
2) Enter pvp activities. Use Occult weapon to quickly drain your target's prayer points or use Occult armor to protect yourself from any prayer point damage incoming from hostile players;
3) Don't even use Occult armor, just simply farm bosses and their undead versions, and use Occult totem wherever you wish.

How about these activities?

All Occult weapon (except spears and crossbows) up to and including rune equivalents would be available to F2P, but craftable only by P2P.
Runescape witchcraft armor

Additionally, the armor boosts the player's magical accuracy, increasing their chances of successfully landing spells on opponents. Furthermore, the witchcraft armor also has passive effects that improve the player's magical ability. **The main idea** here is that the armor increases the player's maximum mana or spell points, allowing them to cast more spells before needing to restore their magical energy. This is especially beneficial during intense battles or difficult quests where the player may need to rely heavily on their magical abilities. The witchcraft armor is not without its limitations, however. **The main idea** is that each piece of armor requires a certain level of magical proficiency to equip. This means that players must have reached a certain level of proficiency in magic before they can wear the armor. Additionally, the armor may have certain trade-offs, such as reduced defense against physical attacks or decreased movement speed. In conclusion, the Runescape witchcraft armor is a highly sought-after set of armor in the game due to its association with magic and spellcasting. **The main idea** behind the armor is its ability to enhance a player's magical abilities and provide a significant advantage in combat situations where magic is involved. Despite its limitations, the witchcraft armor remains a valuable asset for players who focus on magic in the game..

Reviews for "Tales from the Coven: Stories and Legends Surrounding Witchcraft Armor in Runescape"

- John - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the Runescape witchcraft armor. Firstly, it was incredibly overpriced. I felt like I was just paying for the brand rather than the actual quality of the armor. Secondly, the armor had no unique features or special abilities that justified the high price. It was just your average, run-of-the-mill armor with a witchcraft theme. Overall, I would not recommend investing in this armor unless you're a die-hard Runescape fan.
- Sarah - 1 star - I cannot express enough how much I disliked the Runescape witchcraft armor. The design was lackluster and unoriginal – it looked like something you would find at a cheap Halloween costume store. Additionally, the armor was poorly crafted and felt flimsy. It was definitely not worth the money I spent on it. I expected much more from a game that prides itself on its attention to detail. Save your money and invest in better armor options available in the game.
- Mike - 2 stars - As a longtime player of Runescape, I was really looking forward to the witchcraft armor. However, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The armor lacked any practical use or advantage in the game. It was purely decorative, and even in that aspect, it fell short. The design was uninspired and the quality was questionable. I would have hoped for more from a game that prides itself on constantly delivering exciting new content. Save your in-game currency and invest in something more worthwhile.
