As they are both virgins and there is a full moon, they accidentally resurrect the Sanderson Sisters once again. They escape to Gilbert's shop and confront him about his deception. Gilbert reveals that he wants to see the sisters again and learn more from them. He also tells them that they have to stop the sisters before sunrise or they will become immortal.
Becca and Izzy team up with Cassie Traske, a former friend of theirs who is also a descendant of Reverend Traske, the man who banished Winifred Sanderson in 1653; Mike, Cassie's boyfriend; and Billy Butcherson, Winifred's ex-lover who was killed by her and turned into a zombie in 1693. They manage to retrieve the Manual of Witchcraft and Alchemy from Gilbert's shop and use it to find a way to defeat the sisters. They also discover that Winifred plans to use a spell called Magicae Maxima, which would make her all-powerful and allow her to control all magic in the world.
The group faces off against the sisters in various locations throughout Salem, such as Walgreens, City Hall, Salem High School, and Salem Common. They eventually lure them to the Old Burial Hill, where they trick Winifred into casting Magicae Maxima on herself while standing on hallowed ground.
