The Sea Witch is a very dark and sexy read. Honestly, it was hot, set in a modern world with so much diversity it was inspiring. You might need to discount all the power play and criminals, but this is a special world that has been created.
I know a lot of people disliked this one because of how Alaric and Ursa scheme to trick Zuri into running away to enact their revenge on her father, but my bigger issue was that Zuri never struck me as a character worth the lengths to which either of those two go. She goes from meek and mild, never having really had the world come at her due to her father s protectiveness to suddenly being thrown into a world that is entirely new and a little fightening.
The performances are filled with suspense, excitement, and a touch of humor, making it an entertaining experience for all. One of the reasons why the Champions of Magic San Jose is widely popular is because it brings together a diverse group of magicians from around the world. These magicians have honed their skills over the years, perfecting their tricks and illusions to captivate and astound the audience.

In my desperation to reunite with him, I have nowhere to turn but the Sea Witch. Ursa is as beautiful as she is dangerous, and the one person my father warned me never to let close. But she’s all crimson lips and pretty lies, and I’m convinced despite my fear.
It’s a simple enough plan, if not for the faint of heart. An auction to sell the one thing I possess of any value—myself. The money will free Alaric and then we can finally be together.
Except nothing is simple at all.
Ursa is playing at games I can only begin to comprehend. And Alaric? The man I thought I loved might be just as much a villain as the woman I can’t help but be drawn to.
When playing in the darkest depths of love and lust, it will be everything I can do not to drown.
My Review:
Okay, so by now we know that I adore Katee Robert’s writing and books and this was another hit!
It’s not my favourite in this particular series, I really don’t know if anything can top Tink and Hook’s book but this one was still such a fun time.
Ursa, Alaric and Zuri’s dynamic was so unique in the way it came together but I loved that each of their pieces fit. It wasn’t a perfect match by any means but the way they all came to have feelings for each other Was perfect.
I think Zuri was my favourite part of the book, purely because of her character development. She goes from meek and mild, never having really had the world come at her due to her father’s protectiveness to suddenly being thrown into a world that is entirely new and a little fightening. She deals with everything so well and to see her really come into her own was a joy. That scene with her standing up to her father? I was cheering out loud, that’s how thrilled I was to read that chapter.
Ursa and Alaric was something I wasn’t expecting, I don’t know if there just wasn’t any hints prior or if I just can’t remember but I didn’t know that they were a thing but I really enjoyed seeing them together. Especially once Ursa let Alaric in and let her walls come down with him and Zuri.
My only complaint is that I wish there was more. This book takes place over a small period of time, only a few days and I wish we could’ve gotten to see them together for longer! (here’s to hoping for some shorts about them in the future)
Overall, another sexy, dark and incredible read by Katee Robert. I can’t wait to read the final book in this series!
