Eliphas Levi, born Alphonse Louis Constant, was a French occultist, writer, and ceremonial magician who played a significant role in the development of Western esotericism. He was born on February 8, 1810, in Paris, France, and passed away on May 31, 1875. Levi's mother died when he was just a child, and his father moved to Bordeaux, leaving him in the care of his maternal grandmother. Levi showed a great interest in the occult from an early age and began studying magic and other esoteric subjects in his teenage years. He became a student of the renowned occultist Jean-Baptiste Pitois, who taught him astrology, alchemy, and ceremonial magic. In his twenties, Levi moved to Paris, where he worked as a clerk and continued his studies in the occult.

This well-photographed film belies its shoe-string budget. With dark humor and fine acting, it explores the lure of conspiracy theories.

Yo listen up I just watched Morbius and this movie is almost as good as Morbius is, like it s not as good as Morbius because Morbius goes to 11 but The Curse of Professor Zardonicus is at least a 10 and that s pretty good too. I hope the director can smile in knowing his film is far more entertaining than a bunch of higher budgeted horror films out there and wish him the best of luck in the future.

The curse of professor zardonicus

In his twenties, Levi moved to Paris, where he worked as a clerk and continued his studies in the occult. He adopted the name "Eliphas Levi" as a pseudonym, derived from Hebrew and Latin words that represented his beliefs and aspirations. Levi published his first major work, "Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie" (Transcendental Magic: Its Doctrine and Ritual), in 1854.

I thought this was a very well done mockumentary. Both main characters were very good actors, and Darren was particular memorable as a character. Really enjoyed it and hope you continue to help improve this genre!

This movie has so much more going for it. Upon my first viewing it's a fun ride. Upon my second viewing however I found it has a message. A very important one. Depression and mental illness are a real thing. Sometimes medicine helps sometimes it doesn't and the isolation and sadness can be overwhelming, I've felt it I know. This movie tells a story of a isolated man who is obsessed with a single thing and it's consumed him and isolated him in ways no one could imagine. Then someone else comes along and at first doesn't believe a word he says but slowly becomes convinced he's telling the truth and not only that becomes one of his best friends. This movie is moving and emotional in spots that aren't expected. One of my top ten movies of all time hands down. Thanks to the creators for getting this out there. The acting on all parts is incredible and can show how a movie can be more than just a movie.

I honestly had little to no expectations when throwing this on. I had heard of the director in the local Houston scene, so when i came across the film, I was already somewhat familiar with the title. Once it began, I was taken back a bit by its style, which i actually enjoy. Once you get introduced to the characters, everything flows well from there.

It doesn't go without some flaws, however, for a $3,500 budget, the small crew, and (insert another reason). It earned a solid 7/10 for indie work.

I would recommend this as a watch for a fun Saturday-night adventure.

This movie is at least better then Morbius. It's a low budget movie with lots of heart and soul into it. Don't miss out on a great movie, just because of a low score.

Wow! Going into films like this, you truly never know what to expect. Watching this not only gives a sense of hope and a sense of belonging for up and coming filmmakers, but also gives this sense of warmth somehow. All Nighter always gives good quality and care in what they make, and that shines through here more than ever. Care is the word that best sums up this film for me. Well done!

A great blend of dark comedy, mockumentary, and drama. The offbeat humor is perfectly interspersed with moments of tension, and the acting is excellent. Beneath the apparent absurdity of the plot is a running commentary about the nature of belief and alienation. This ultimately leaves viewers with the question of where the line is between reality and our understanding of it -- if there is one at all. The ending is a true Rorschach test. If I have one piece of advice for first-time viewers, it's to go into this movie with an open mind: It doesn't quite fit into any one genre; rather, it is in a category all its own.

I was expecting this to be silly due to the name and by all means it definitely is and at times the acting is a bit over the top but I see that as almost a benefit to the believability of why Darren acts the way he does This movie follows around a dude filming a school project on a certain topic and gets in contact with Darren who claims he was brutal attacked by local school legend Professor Zardonicus and wants Greg to help him seek out the truth This movie was surprisingly heartwarming and it's definitely deeper than it appears touching up on thing like mental illness and media Was it cheesy? Sure? Was it bad? Not at all at least for me.

It's always nice when there's actual effort in trying to make a good story and you see it here.

I was surprised by it. Enjoyed the writing and the visuals. If you're into indie films on a budget, you'll really want to take a look at this. You're going to be able to tell people you knew about Theis' stuff before any of your friends were.

There's such a home-made, warm, deliberate subversion of found footage here, anchored by a magnetic performance of its lead actor.

Rooted in mythos and mystery as opposed to abject horror. Really enjoyed this.

Made on a shoestring, Zardonicus delivers on the strength of its writing, acting, and photography. Stands up to multiple viewings. It took me awhile to get used to the lead, but now I think this is a strong performance.

This seminal book explored the theory and practice of ritual magic and introduced Levi's innovative ideas about the relation between the spiritual and physical worlds. Levi's writings gained recognition and attracted both followers and critics. He was admired by figures like Arthur Edward Waite and Aleister Crowley, who considered him a pioneer in the field of occultism. However, Levi also faced opposition from some traditionalists who deemed his ideas as heretical or dangerous. Nonetheless, his impact on the development of esoteric traditions in the Western world cannot be underestimated. Levi's works covered a wide range of esoteric subjects, including symbolism, Kabbalah, tarot, and astrology. He believed that magic should serve as a means to gain self-awareness and moral improvement, advocating for a spiritual approach to the practice. His writings often combined elements from various traditions, blending Christian mysticism, hermeticism, and alchemy. Despite facing financial difficulties throughout his life, Levi dedicated himself to his spiritual pursuits, continually expanding his knowledge and engaging in deep contemplation. His works and ideas continue to inspire and influence practitioners of magic and the occult to this day. Eliphas Levi's contributions to the field of magic and esotericism are invaluable. Through his writings and teachings, he helped shape the modern understanding and practice of occultism, bridging the gap between the spiritual and the physical realms. His commitment to morality and self-improvement through magical practices has had a lasting impact on those who seek spiritual enlightenment through the esoteric arts..
